Rights and obligations

Rights and obligations

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

A rant

"

Rights and obligations

To speak of discipline taboo.

Today you are not allowed to.

The PC brigade would take offence.

They are devoid of common sense.

Unless there is a penalty

there is no point in having laws

Protecting life and property.

There really is no other course.

If you offend then there must be.

 Some form of punishment applied.

Swiftly and efficiently

After you have been duly tried.

The cause produces the effect

You would know what to expect.

A punishment to fit the crime.

I am quite certain it is time.

To disband the P.C brigade

and tidy up the mess they’ve made.

Offenders must be made to see

They cannot get away scott free.

I favour corporal punishment

We have been far too lenient

with those who cause others pain.

The birch would make them think again.

As for those who choose to kill

they should be certain that they will.

Receive the only penalty

Their crime deserves apparently.

To tackle crime effectively

The criminals must clearly see.

That if they choose to flout the laws.

They will be punished in due course.

Couldn't agree more! You've put it really well, and although you call it a rant, its one you've thought out.

"Unless there is a penalty, there is no point in having laws." I guess to people like us, that is common sense, but like you say, they don't have any. A person can go to prison for murder and serve a 'life' sentence (25 years is a life sentence!?) and they'll probably be let out early for 'good behaviour'. Makes you sick, huh?

Great piece with a very good message.
