Anywhere but where I amA Poem by PoeticpiersAnywhere but where I am. There is a world of fantasy. Where anything is possible. A world I visit frequently. I’m well aware it isn’t real. I only go there when I feel that every day reality. Has just become too much for me. So I relax in my arm chair and instantly I am elsewhere. Imagination takes me there. To any where I want to be. Reality is hard to bear. So I indulge in fantasy Go some where which has more appeal Not always voluntarily Those precious moments which I steal can sometimes turn too easily. Into a state where I don’t care. I would much rather be elsewhere. Than doing what I’m paid to do Always the same, nothing new. The boredom serves to drive me to. Seek to escape reality Neglect responsibility. The boss can see me sitting there Almost upright on my hard chair. Hard at work apparently Exactly where I ought to be. My body’s there but I am not. I ‘ve escaped temporarily Discontented with my lot I much prefer my fantasy. To the hum drum of every day I do enough to earn my pay. I wonder if my colleagues too seek to escape the way I do I’m half convinced it must be true.
