Secularity

Secularity

A Poem by Poeticpiers

Secularity.

The cross, the crescent, David’s star.

Religious symbols we see frequently.

Most often worn as jewellery,

with which we are familiar.

But is that all that they are.

That’s not what they were meant to be.

To see them used so casually.

I find somewhat peculiar.

It seems that we do not respect

what these symbols signify.

Though most people would deny

 that wearing them shows disrespect

Though I admit quite openly

 they lack significance for me.
