Family of Man

 

We concentrate on difference.

 

Instead of similarity

 because we do not want to see.

 

That every life is intertwined.

That is the way we were designed.

By some power undefined.

 

I must admit that like the rest

when I’m confronted by some test.

I tend to do as I think best.

It seems that I have not progressed.

 

Towards the goal of selflessness.

I’m guilty still of selfishness.

Our finer feelings we suppress.

Because they seem to matter less.

Than constant pursuit of success.

 

Our sense of values is perverse

and every day it’s growing worse.

An attitude we must reverse.

Though we are varied and diverse,

we  have the same path to traverse.

Before we earn the universe.
