Scotland Calling.

Scotland Calling.

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

sonnet in tetrameter for the descendants of the exiles

"

Scotland Calling.

A land of glens and mountain streams.

 Chuckling softly as they flow

A land that haunts the exiles dreams

with memories of long ago.

The dreams they have inherited.

Passed down inside their DNA.

Although some doubts are merited

It seems to be the only way.

We can explain memories

of places we have never seen.

Though scattered through the colonies

It seems embedded in our genes.

Is an urge which prompts us to.

Visit the land our forebears knew.

I consider Scotland my second home even though I've never been there. Bonnie Scotia is indeed calling me and I know that the day I set foot on her hallowed soil will be a day filled with awe, joy, and weeping. So very proud of my Scottish heritage. Please write more poetry like this.

Very nice write indeed. With family name like wardlaw, Collins, Corbin, and singreen, my family is firmly rooted in the brittish isles. And I feel that same calling. I visited as a child and was mesmerized. Thank you for calling up that memory. Nice use of rhyme and meter. Precisely done.

Nicely written. To dream of our roots is very compelling. It helps us to understand ourselves better. Our likes, quirks and yes even our dreams.
