Fiery Finale.

The passage of a meteorite

across the sky. Draws streaks of light

The friction heated fragments fly.

Creating beauty as they die.

They may have wandered  ceaselessly

through outer space for centuries.

And would do still if they’d passed by.

Instead of lighting up earths sky.

Earths atmosphere a picket fence

 which represents our best defence.

A sentinel that seldom fails.

Reducing threats to vapour trails.

All journeys end eventually

 but not always as splendidly.

I love this;
"Earths atmosphere a picket fence
which represents our best defence.
A sentinel that seldom fails.
Reducing threats to vapour trails.
All journeys end eventually
but not always as splendidly"

It has a bit of a sci-fi feel to it. I love the mixture of meteorites and poetry; which of course I'm bias.
