I don't know anything.

I don't know anything.

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

Just a poem

"

I don’t know anything

Driving in the dark I see

red tail lights ahead of me.

Bright white lights come the other way.

A complicated interplay

of varying intensity.

Some old ,some new some tinted blue.

I don’t know where I’m going to

I only know I cannot stay.

I feel I have to get away

varying in intensity.

Is this a dream or a nightmare

 and am I going anywhere.

Or asleep in my own bed

with pictures running through my head

 of varying intensity.

Then suddenly I realise

I am awake open my eyes.

They weren’t just pictures in my brain.

I have been hurt I am in pain

Of varying intensity.

The other driver seemingly

 had been drinking heavily.

I ended up in casualty

but he was injured fatally.

A story told too frequently.

I can’t recall the accident

to me it was a non event.

Shock has erased my memory

Though they still ask questions of me

 of varying intensity.

Vivid words, and how many are harmed or killed by drunk drivers.......I love your thought flow, and the realisation of your pain......and the flow is excellent.

Alas an all too frequent story.
Wonderful execution - it has an easy flow, rhyme and perfect meter. The last line of each stanza adds greatly to the pleasure of reading because it changes the audible frequency and gives the poem a little chorus.

I thoroughly enjoyed the read. Thank you.
