End of day thoughts for M'lady Poppy

End of day thoughts for M'lady Poppy

A Poem by Poeticpiers

End of day thoughts.

The glory of the sunset fades.

The evening sky surrenders to

a nonstop flow of darkest blue.

Which overwhelms the pastel shades.

The evening stars come on parade.

A panorama we can view.

In hopes of seeing something new.

Although the stars we see displayed.

May well have burnt out long ago.

There is no way that we can know.

Which of the stars we think we see.

That twinkle brightly overhead,

are still alive and which are dead

We never will most probably.

I never saw them from this perspective! Very truly said and thoughtful too. I can't decide if this is romanticism or philosophy-- But that's the best in the poem I guess, just the common thoughts of an uncommon poet. Keep viewing and keep writing.

While reading this I couldn't help butwonder how many have gazed skyward and asked themselves the self-same questions. My wife is currently doing a degree in physics and astronomy at Durham Uni, so I likewise spend much of my time immersed in the twinkling sights in the sky. I can identify Jupiter, Mars and Venus now, so it's not been an entirely futile effort on my part! Take care, spence
