A Poem by Poeticpiers

sonnet

Its no use complaining.

A winter world of black and white.
Snow sparkling in the pale sunlight.
The trees bare branches reaching high.
Black silhouettes against the sky.
There’s austere beauty in the sight
 Which demonstrates King Winters might.
A vast expanse beneath the sky
of gleaming white that hurts the eye.
Although we know the snow will go
we know the process will be slow.
There’s little point in asking why.
King Winters rule we can’t defy.
There’s just one thing we know for sure
We must endure what we can’t cure.

It snows in Utah till June then jumps right in to the nineties. I love winter for the first little while. The snow is so pristinely white and beautiful, just how you have described; then after a while it turns dirty black from the pollution, and sticks around as a reminder of how filthy cold it is outside. It is for sure, "We must endure what we can't cure."

Nice Write!

Life is full of ups and downs so we must endure the bad and relish the good... a poem full of great advice.

I like this. The message is so true. It has a nice rhythm and rhyme that doesn't come across as trite. The description gives a nice visual.

Oh, I like this!!! I can see the "silhouettes against the sky" and the "gleaming white that hurts the eye" even though we didn't get much snow in my part of PA. Enjoyed this one!
