Bhann Sidhe. for M'lady Kerry

Bhann Sidhe.

I heard the Bhann Sidhe wail last night.

Although the moon was shining bright.

There was nothing there could see.

I prayed she had not come for me.

When I heard her wailing cry.

I knew that soon someone would die.

Some member of the family.

I prayed she had not come for me.

I spent the night down on my knees

Saying decades of rosaries.

I told my beads repeatedly.

I prayed she had not come for me.

My prayers were answered in a way.

I lived to see the light of day.

My mother died instead of me.

I prayed she had not come for me.

Now my conscience bothers me.

Reminding me constantly.

That I had acted selfishly.

I prayed she had not come for me..

I know she will return for me

and praying hard will not save me.

I am the very last you see.

The last one of my family.

It's been a long while since a poem from your pen was dedicated to me.

I love this haunting tale of the wailing banshee - certainly had my Irish blood singing.

Thanks, my dear.
