Memories or prejudice.

When you meet somebody new.

Do you ever wonder why?

You react the way you do.

Do you decide immediately,

 you are attracted or repelled.

Relying quite instinctively.

On your subconscious mind to be.

Alert to signals it receives

About some risks potentially.

Or do you try to consciously.

new friends at face value

and get to know them gradually.

Personally I do believe

That my subconscious is more wise.

A great deal harder to deceive..

So I rely entirely

on what I feel not what I see

I seem to know instinctively.

The ones I should accept as friends

and which to view as enemies.

I am convinced it all depends.

On previous experience

of other lives that we have lived.

WE don’t recall but we can sense.

So if you ever wonder why.

you react the way you do.

You might accept my point of view.

I have no proof to offer you.

You must rely on faith alone.

The choice is yours you’re on your own.

One of the beauties of the internet is that we form our opinions from what we read and what we infer from what we read without knowing the skin colour or religion etc of the writer. WE build up mental images which from experience of meeting up with net friends are usually inaccurate. We tend to see writers as being in the prime of life and are quite shocked to realise they are grand parents or sometimes quite young children.I think we transmit our mental image of ourselves in some manner which is picked up by our readers.

I believe age helps us see a good person from a bad. I like to decide with conversation and how they react to common things. I was raised by a father who knew and felt hate for his skin color. He taught me to give all people a fair chance. I agree experience make us wiser in the selection of people we want around us. A excellent poem. Great debate could come from the words in your poem. A excellent poem.
