Harmonic empathy for M'lady Magdalena

Harmonic Empathy.

The music ceases suddenly

and leaves an aching void behind

The audience sits silently

As if they were all of one mind.

The magic music had to end.

They know this intellectually

The logic on which they depend

counts for nought emotionally.

Because they were transported to

the highest peak of ecstasy.

A place where spirits can renew

Their sense of wonder readily..

While listening to this symphony

 we shared a common empathy.

I think Charles is right..what a perfect poem..the flow an astounding symphony..this is so well done...The music, the emotion, the void when it had to end...incredible writing...

Well, well, well. What a perfect poem... nice rhythm, good flow. and, such an ease with rhyming such difficult (three syllable) words. A masterpiece, really. I wonder why some lines don't start with a capital letter - I don't see the unifying theme that leads to some capitals and some lower case (also, the .. at the end of one line - purposeful?). Great writing (not a stressed sentence among them)! Thanks, Tate, for asking me to look at this.

The flow and the rhyme was done wonderfully. This poem is soft in movement and has a sad under tone

Excellent capture of the power of music to unite us briefly. Logic and emotion are at odds with each other, would that it wasn't so.

When soft the music commands,
The heart can not but listen.
It's doubled only to end
Where their empathy is in.

well written.

Ah, the silent pause as the curtain falls, that is when a performer knows, they have touched the audience souls and are for a brief moment, one.
You have captured that moment in elegant fashion; using carefully crafted words to share the moment with the reader.

Oh Mr. Ivor. This was splendid! I loved the images this gave me... To me music is the voice that rings forth with love, sharing its beautiful sound for all to hear if they so wish..
