That's my excuse. for Friend Sam

That's my excuse. for Friend Sam

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

A poem in tetrameter

"

That’s my excuse.

Sometimes I find my energy.

Dissipates quite suddenly.

Then I know it’s time to choose

To just lean back enjoy a snooze.

Which will recharge my batteries

This I can do with practiced ease.

I know a nap will do me good

My body insists that I should.

Unusually my mind agrees

I surrender gracefully

and soon I’m snoring quietly

I only need an hour or so

before I  am ready to go.

Siesta time is not a crime

but a constructive use of time

As you age you find it true.

At least most older people do.

Once again with your work I found myself carried along by the immaculate rhythm and rhyme. On the subject matter, I'm a mere 58 but I couldn't agree more. Of course in my case I'm only practising for when I get older.

Wonderfully human and wonderful humour plus, the inevitable and superb bow to recognised form. No need for an excuse .. you may snooze but you dooze what you dooze with great aplomb!
