My sock drawer is full of singletonsA Poem by Poeticpiersjust a poemMy sock drawer is full of singletons. Somewhere in the galaxy. I am certain there must be A planet which gives sanctuary. To missing socks which go astray. Their numbers rising every day. Someone must guide them on their way They always choose to go alone. To lose a pair almost unknown they never write or telephone.. Their partners languish in a drawer. I don’t know what we keep them for. They’re doomed to wait for evermore. I choose to wash my socks by hand. Which puts me firmly in command. Washing machines should all be banned. I must admit I am annoyed but try my hardest to avoid appearing to be paranoid. I do not trust machinery and I suspect conspiracy When socks go missing frequently. If my suspicion should prove true. Then other men must suffer too. Feel free to contact me, if you do. You’ll find me on the internet. My nom de plume is Alphabet Although nobody has as yet I check my e mails frequently and fume and fret impatiently. Nobody cares apparently. Now I am left to wonder why. Nobody chooses to reply. Perhaps they are afraid to try. Prefer to suffer silently Accepting philosophically. They cannot solve the mystery. I am afraid I am obsessed I cannot let the matter rest Although I know it would be best. To just accept the status quo. Acknowledge I will never know just why or where the stray socks go.
