Story poem. Keeping a low profile For Friend GregA Poem by Poeticpiersrhyming quatrains in tetrameterKeeping a low profile. I have survived for centuries. At least fourteen or may be more A string of broken memories. I see no point in keeping score. I am a vampire that is true. But I am careful not to kill. There is no reason I should do. I exercise consummate skill. Though they donate against their will. My so called victims never know that the have helped to fulfil A goal I set so long ago. I have the power to hypnotise manipulate their memories So that they never realise they have donated blood to me. What they don’t know will do no harm. They have no reason to suspect that they have cause to feel alarm. I leave no sign they can detect. They have been used to satisfy a long lived vampires appetite. If they were asked they would deny A visit from a parasite. Would you believe me if I said I visit you quite frequently. When you are fast asleep in bed. I’m sure you would not believe me. Vampires are merely old wives tales That everyone knows are not true. But many a stout heart will still fail If I appear out of the blue.
