A monument we should protect.

A monument we should protect.

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

A poem in triplets iambic tetrameter

"

A monument we should protect.

The ancient amphitheatre lies.

Its marble seats eroded by

 exposure to the elements.

Though long abandoned to decay.

It is impressive still today.

A long enduring monument.

A tribute to the men long dead

who had the skill to look ahead.

 Creating a new precedent.

For lesser men to imitate

In their attempts to emulate

inventors of a new concept.

Though that was many years ago

and all that’s left today to show

success of this experiment

Are row on row of seats in tiers

 eroded by the passing years.

Though damaged still magnificent.

Now foreign tourists flock to see

 the remnants left of majesty.

Which have survived by accident.

The ancient amphitheatre lies

beneath the blue Aegean skies.

There is no room for argument.

I was lucky enough to be one of those tourists under the Aegean skies. I found more than one of the sites very moving. I have no argument to give here. What you have writen is true. I really like the departure into a three line verse.Well done.
