Surprise in storeA Poem by PoeticpierspoemSurprise in store The cats which congregate and wait They gather just outside my gate What is it that they want from me? I’ve come to hate their scrutiny. Silently thy stare at me and flick their tails in harmony As if they all anticipate Some strange event for which they wait. I know not why they congregate But I do not appreciate Their evil eyes regarding me Constantly and ceaselessly. Tomorrow morning I propose to douse them with garden hose. Not quite what they are waiting for I think that they will watch no more.
