First time always makes an impression

First time always makes an impression

First Time always makes an impression.

I can recall my first P.M

My colleagues thought I would pass out.

My actions made a fool of them.

A laugh they had to go without

It caught and held my interest

I had no wish to look away.

I have to say I was impressed.

 With the cold efficient way

The pathologist went about

A task to him which was mundane

Internal organs taken out

Each one checked and checked again.

He looked for abnormalities

To establish why he died

For signs and symptoms of disease.

At last he was quite satisfied.

The cause of death was natural.

A cerebral Haemmorage

The signs were unmistakeable.

He’d reached the end of his last page.

It was my first but not my last

I have attended many more

As my years of service passed.

I saw no point in keeping score.

I still remember vividly

The first P.M. I ever saw

And the effect it had on me

Most probably for ever more.

Some would say this is a finial look back at a finial look back. It is done very well and no I would not like to go through the same. Great read

I have never had this experience and would hope, if I ever do, I would react the same. Any dead body was, once, a person, whom was probably loved by someone. Therefore, even in death, they deserve respect. Your poem spoke respectfully about the subject and commended the thoroughness of the person performing the post mortem. Wonderful write about a touchy topic!
