Instinctive reaction

Instinctive reaction

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

A sonnet in tetrameter for friend Tate

"

Instinctive reaction

Inspiration, contemplation.

Plus deep thought and concentration.

Will lead we hope to a creation.
On the joy of meditation.

Pray to your muse for her support.

Empty your mind of conscious thought

and then sit quiet as you ought

If you are lucky you’ll be taught.

That inspiration tries to find

A quiet and receptive mind..

Where well chosen words combined

Produce a poem that’s designed

to demonstrate: Meditation

 is an aid to inspiration.

I love the play with rhyme and meter. You don't see that much anymore with modern poems, but I'm happy to see it here. Makes it a fun and thoughtful read.
