Afternoon Tea for M'lady Emma

Afternoon Tea for M'lady Emma

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

Afternoon tea.

A spiral of blue smoke ascends

From a twisted chimney pot.

A signal to expected friends

That tea is brewing in the pot.

I have been baking cakes and pies

The sandwiches are all fresh cut

A sight to please a gourmets eyes.

They know although my door is shut.

A warm welcome awaits inside.

There’s coffee too if you should choose.

The interest my friends provide.

Discussing subjects old and new.

My friends will gather happily

In my front room in time for tea.
