Not Another Obituary

Not Another Obituary

A Poem by poison&kerosene

I don't want to be another headline
my picture sitting pretty next to coupons.
Because I am so much more than a thin article.
So much more than a faded memory.

I don't want to be another body in the dirt
All simply because I have exhausted my limits
Because I let sadness creep up on me
and I stopped fighting back.

I don't want to be another victim
just because I sighed longer than I smiled
And because I dropped the ball
and refused to pick it back up

I don't want to be another teen
who Lived up to sixteen all because
I saw the now and never the later
or gave up on my family, friends, myself.
