White BeautyA Poem by ShannonAbout a swan I saw get hit by a car a few weeks ago. It broke my heart. Our meeting was sudden and brief
Her pain stricken eyes looked deep into my soul Feathers whiter then the winters past snow A wing span as wide as my pride She never saw the gliding monster coming The coward struck her down from behind I heard my soothing words that she took with a sigh She knew they were lies, as did I. Don’t worry your last companions will protect you To move you out of any danger that might come again. Such a precious creature of light, I loved you in that short moment. © 2011 ShannonReviews
