LUNCH IN THE FISHING VILLAGEA Chapter by Pras RamBreakfast, Lunch & Dinner... at the most unexpected places!!!After a sumptuous meal, I went for a walk to the other side of the island. When the tide is low, we could actually walk from one island to another. There was a small fishing village and the fishermen did not understand a single word that came out of my mouth. So, I decided to try out my smile. At first, they were fascinated by the sight of a foreigner walking around the village with a big smile on his face. One of the fishermen asked me to join him for lunch. He brought me the biggest and the sweetest coconut I have ever had in my life. I am sure there was atleast 3-4 liters of water in it. After the appetizer we moved to the main course. The food was excellent. After lunch, I just sat there under the coconut trees hearing to some Thai music. As the music was good, I started dancing and the fisherman joined me. His wife and three children joined the dancing. After a while, there were atleast 20 of us dancing. The whole island seemed to come to life and there were happy faces everywhere. We all danced and felt a sense of togetherness. In spite of coming from a different place, I felt like I was at home. It is one of the most unforgettable moments of my life. After an excellent lunch and dance party, I went back to the resort. On my way back, I learnt another lesson. While walking through a group of coconut trees, watch out for the dry leaves and coconuts that falls from heaven. I was whistling happily when a dry coconut leaf fell in front of me with a great thud. It missed my face by 2 inches. Because of the loud noise, the dry leaves and coconut started falling left, right and center. I ran for my life. It was as if the coconut trees did not like a foreigner disturbing the peace of their island and were chasing me out of that place, asking me to get lost.
