DarknessA Poem by prema
DARKNESS
I prefer to stay in darkness To avoid the glare of others' eyes piercing mine In darkness I need not touch me to know me The value of light I know then better. The secrecy lies behind the darkness Of the outer space baffles me to no end I then wonder whether at some point Will someone throw flashing light? The shipman's tale of aurora A rare phenomena of lights in the sky Which he vouched to witness while sailing Its veracity has given me food for thought. Light when shines not removes darkness away It just reveals what all darkness Has in store, among the treasures There are some that shines on their own. Just a backward glance can take One from dark age to the present new Those who threw light on the pathway Are the ones who shine on their own. Modern though, still we are in dark Our ancestors efforts not match our deeds Many a homes are lit by power No power can dispel darkness of mind but by self. © 2014 prema |
