Quid Pro So?A Poem by PeteThat government is best which governs the least, because its people discipline themselves. - Thoreau![]() Give me this and I'll give you that. Tell me I'm skinny and I won't say that you're fat. Divided parties trading tit-for-tat. Exposed by an unknown, whistleblowing rat. You can lie and I won't tell the truth. It may seem wrong but this game is uncouth. The good book says that, "Pride cometh before the fall." I wonder if that applies on a private phone call. I'll give you money for bullets and you'll give me dirt. We'll pretend that we like each other whilst we deceptively flirt. I'll say I like your country and you'll say you like my rug. I'll be smooth and you'll be a thug. We'll place our hands on a holy bible. Whilst a hungry media pushes dramatic libel. We'll raise our hands and swear an oath. They may get one of us but surely not both. We'll use each other like a political leach. Hopefully I won't be impeached ... ![]() © 2019 PeteAuthor's Note
