First Blush

First Blush

A Poem by Pete

Love must be as much a light as it is a flame. - Thoreau

Elementary School Crushes - YouTube

hearts racing at recess
you sat next to me at lunch
with your braced, metallic smile
me grinning in diffidence
back when my double vision was out of sight

you gave me your milk money
right before our freckled innocence met

we didn't know what a rubious crush could ever beget

that cold winter day of naivety

when erubescence began to sweat

well done! i like this a lot! you have presented the innocence most all can relate to .. all the way back to Kindergarten for me and my first kiss with the little blonde haired girl .. it so crazy I remember it so well .. and your poem so gently weaves into the passions and romance and with good fortune .. true love .. the movement is a delight ... if it were a dance i would say its a Rumba ... take a moment to watch this if you care to .. https://youtu.be/l6A4DoX6Uq8

First of all, love the title. I never heard of first love in that way before. The poem was short and sweetly explained and expressed. Enjoyed the quotes too. A poem about ones first blush never gets old. Tyfs
