Old Dominion

A Poem by Pete
"

Age is no better, hardly so well, qualified for an instructor as youth, for it has not profited so much as it has lost. - Thoreau

"
Young boy with towel cape at the beach | Beach, Art photography, Art direction

with a breezed towel of regalia
attended by a clothespinned, royal seal
a potty my throne
its liberating plunger for an imperial sceptre
panoramic innocence coronating a sovereign crown

i journey back to the reign of noble youth
a sort of holy crusade
with all the pomp and circumstance of sandcastled childhood
barely able to remember the way
not knowing quite what to say

oh, for one more chance to play

king for a day

Pete
"The youth gets together his materials to build a bridge to the moon, or, perchance, a palace or temple on the earth, and, at length, the middle-aged man concludes to build a woodshed with them." - Thoreau
