China Doll

China Doll

A Poem by Pete
"

When virtue and modesty enlighten her charms, the lustre of a beautiful woman is brighter than the stars of heaven, and the influence of her power it is in vain to resist. - Thoreau

Uncommon 17.5

direct from the finishing school of bone formosa
with your finely painted, rouged enamel
styled in delicate porcelain plasticity
showcasing a baked, smoothen, glazed complexion
features of fanciful eloquence
dainty dignity of gossamer exquisiteness
precious fantasy in fashioned earthen ware
a celadon vision
i found you

keeping you on the dustless, top shelf of a glassed credenza of admiration
under impervious lock and key
taking you out only on longful, special occasions
to remind myself of infatuation's grandeur and obsession's splendor

you're my everything
my all

please don't ever break or fall
for i've not the glue, moral fiber or wherewithal
to put you back together
no, not with pieces so fragile and small

my treasured

china doll
