Ave Maria

Ave Maria

A Poem by Pete
"

I fear that we are such gods or demigods only as fauns and satyrs, the divine allied to beasts, the creatures of appetite, and that, to some extent, our very life is our disgrace. - Thoreau

"
Finishing The Race | HR C-Suite

hail mary
full of grace
help me to finish this human race
not here but in some faraway place
perhaps outer space
be it at my own hobbled, hubble pace

you see, i'm running low on faith
edged out by this wicked wraith
promise me you won't spray my second face
with your hidden, protective can of mace
save me from the gauche gonorrhea
vaccinate my soul with a panacea
at the photo finish line, i'll see ya

ave maria

Author's Note

Pete
"We are conscious of an animal in us, which awakens in proportion as our higher nature slumbers. It is reptile and sensual, and perhaps cannot be wholly expelled; like the worms which, even in life and health, occupy our bodies. Possibly we may withdraw from it, but never change its nature. I fear that it may enjoy a certain health of its own; that we may be well, yet not pure." - Thoreau

V1 reminds me of working all my life, living in population centers becuz that's where the jobs were, but always dreaming of spending the rest of my life in a wild place. I'm so content & amazed my escape has been realized for the last 10 years. V2 reminds me of how I feel the world "out there" has become so infected since my escape, I never long to return. In fact, being forced to return is one of my recurring nightmares (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Nice work Pete, yes we are making a mess of this place and very quickly too. It’s beyond belief we would blow up everything beautiful Earth gives us all for greed only to move on and damage some other place.
