Shangri-la-ha

Shangri-la-ha

A Poem by Pete
"

It is better to have your head in the clouds, and know where you are... than to breathe the clearer atmosphere below them, and think that you are in paradise. - Thoreau

"
The two faced nature of people!

reaching out with both hands
i've got you by your wide, double-breasted lapels
coercing you into perceiving what i feel
lofty highs and hungry lows
frozen tears and joyous minutes

kicking off my shoes and passing them to you
taking you on a journey into my world
where flags either sulk at half staff or dance unfurled
where the laughter can be deep and loud
where the bus is a cloud
and the fillings in your teeth are falling out but proud
where truth doesn't have to hide behind a dead shroud

a place where faith sneaks up on you
lines in the sand are always dotted and crossed
and time is never lost
no matter the cost

happiness is a rule here, not a law
but rules are meant to be broken
in this double-barreled shotgun spa

this downtown shangri-la-ha

I love this. I want to visit you there. I thought the wilderness was a superb place to hang out & make outlandish rhymes, but I could go glug-glug-glug on somma your wild urbanities enumerated here. I love your wry humor ensconced in sassy rhymes, showing how to escape the mundane aspects of whatever one's boring locale might be! Happy New Year! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
