Still Standing

Still Standing

A Poem by Pete
"

I am convinced, both by faith and experience, that to maintain one's self on this earth is not a hardship but a passtime, if we live simply and wisely. - Thoreau

"
Using Faith and Walking In Your Authority

as i wipe the highwayed miles from my eyes
i can't help but remember
chrysalis days
abominable nights
summers lying in the hammock of paradise
winters skating on thin ice
always paying market price

still it was nice
with the free ticket of faith
the undying song 'pon my lyric lips
plucked on the strings of god's esoteric harp
still hoping
still dreaming
still standing

in eternity

don't try to convince me otherwise

Author's Note

Pete
"We must have infinite faith in each other. If we have not, we must never let it leak out that we have not. Remember that the smallest seed of faith is of more worth than the largest fruit of happiness." - Thoreau

This is the third poem of yours I've read this morning & I could not think of anything to say in response. That has not happened before -- usually I very much relate to what you're saying. I love the imagery you use in this poem, even if I fail to string it together into a distinct message. Maybe it's just a longing for the times when we were so busy attacking life, we didn't have time to dissect it. We just lived it . . . chewed it up and spit it out! Here's wishing you & your loved ones a bright Christmas week! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
