Turn It Up

Turn It Up

A Poem by Pete
"

Music is perpetual, and only the hearing is intermittent. - Thoreau

"
When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors' To Best Avoid Lightning's Pain : Shots - Health News : NPR

i remember as a kid when the thunder rolled on for what seemed like forever
rattling into tomorrow
disturbing the neighbors
shaking the sashes

that was long before we turned down the volume
what a waste
moving with such haste

having all the windows replaced

I've always loved thunder storms! I'd love to read more if you decide to add more stanzas!

Thank you for the welcome! :)
Being in a rickety cabin with rattling windows, I've imagined what it might be like if this place were airtight a time or two. But most of the time I open my doors wide so I can hear the rain loudly (such a rare occurrence anymore -- only three-quarters inch in the last 8 to 10 months!) Another thought strikes me about your poem -- how we humans keep turning down the volume on nature, nearly blotting out so much of it in our haste & greed. Love your imagery & how your poem keeps presenting more possibilities about what it means (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I get the impression the thunder is metaphorical for something that has been lost with the years. Perhaps our haste to control things has removed something of life's authenticity. Just a thought.
