Abloom

A Poem by Pete
"

The finest qualities of our nature, like the bloom on fruits, can be preserved only by the most delicate handling. Yet we do not treat ourselves nor one another thus tenderly. - Thoreau

my love
let down your silken, flowing locks
put away your tears
meet me under the cotton swabs of the p***y willows
with their catkins of promise
and gentle, cushiony tutelage
amidst the inflorescence of undeniable truth

it's the place we've chosen
the devotion we've woven
in the sprouting leaves of hope
pinned with capitulating, catapulting corsages of destiny
come
please
i beg you

we'll silence the ages
rewriting the missing pages
defying fate
coronating what was meant to be in the vestibule of heaven
before it's too late

god will receive us
there's always room

for faith abloom

Author's Note

Pete
“There were times when I could not afford to sacrifice the bloom of the present moment to any work, whether of the head or hands. I love a broad margin to my life. [...] They were not time subtracted from my life, but so much over and above my usual allowance. [...] This was sheer idleness to my fellow-townsmen, no doubt; but if the birds and flowers had tried me by their standard, I should not have been found wanting.” - Thoreau

I'm set back on my heels to read such a whiff of romantic fragrance from you, my friend! I just about fell in love with you by the end of this! I love the imagery you use becuz it's like none other & it evokes the most unusual pondering . . . not your boring predictable romantic fare, for sure! Here's hoping you have some lively romance like this in your life to toast the holidays (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

room for faith in each other...writing love poetry is always better when it is a collaboration of two.
nicely done...I especially love the wording of the second stanza.
