she couldn't hear the birds today

the pipes and strings were playing instead

if only in her head

her spirit was filled with a different song

putting her in a trance

making her want to take a chance

forcing her to get up and dance

taller than the eiffel in france

bridging heaven's expanse

it was the kind of music that rattles your soul

never growing old

precious like gold

welcoming you into the fold

as it reaches out and grabs hold

the kind that rocked and rolled

Music - the universal language...for me, I would not be here if not for music...it has been there for me always and is a constant companion, music has seen me through a lot of dark hours and is my detachment to this realm...beautiful piece Pete, as always, I take a lot of vivid imagery with me from reading your wonderful poems :)

yes, the universal language. i would not be here either if not for music. ever since i discovered it in school - so much time spent in my bedroom listening as a teenager. the first things i ever bought with my paper route money were a ten-speed bicycle to help with delivering the newspapers and a stereo for my bedroom! i might be slower on the bike now but the music still plays on my computer, car, phone, heart and soul!
