A Poem by Pete
"

We are older by faith than by experience. - Thoreau

"
The Guardian Knights of Art Pilgrims | Rosamond Press

jackals, hyenas and wild dingoes
wizards and warlocks
fast and furious
wicked and curious
salivating in surround sound
taking the low ground
in the oculus of strobed existence
dragons, kings
and other obtuse things

"where is your god now?", they ask carnivorously
"where can we sink our rabid teeth"
"you're so meek"

it's all a blur
being dubbed, "sir"
i pass by them clutching the golden chalice of mirth
waiting to inherit the earth
immeasurable worth

a righteous privilege of faith's birth

Author's Note

Pete
"A man's real faith is never contained in his creed, nor is his creed an article of his faith. The last is never adopted. This it is that permits him to smile ever, and to live even as bravely as he does. And yet he clings anxiously to his creed, as to a straw, thinking that that does him good service because his sheet anchor does not drag." - Thoreau
