"The tree of Knowledge is a Tree of Knowledge of good and evil. It is a momentous fact that a man may be good, or he may be bad; his life may be true, or it may be false; it may be either a shame or a glory to him. The good man builds himself up; the bad man destroys himself." - Thoreau

About the time you posted this, Rob Trakofler (Bunny) posted "Against the Grain" & both of you are unique & startling writers who nail this theme in different ways, both I very much relate to. Being a people pleaser is a sad way to be, in my opinion (tho I was one for most of my life). One must shake this affliction before one's true colors can manifest fully. I agree than when we find this inner harmony & live by it, it's unlikely for life to go in an unrewarding direction (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I always walk against the flow "the crowd", and even when it seems it's impossible to keep goodness I will keep it. in the ugliness of war You see no rules, You see two opposites faces, winners and losers, blood and life, good and evil... and can YOU keep up that faith of yours with all this rough ugliness around? here people devided into two kinds, the ones who lose it all and the ones who strengthens it even more, YOU choose, soul or flesh? building or destroying?.... in all of this, only the pureness of innocence, the children are the safe for a better future... as this goes for wars, it goes for life itself. this one must be my favorite from You, well done my friend, well done ✨
