Back Doors And Killer Floors

Back Doors And Killer Floors

A Poem by Pete
"

The only sin in the world is ignorance. - Thoreau

"
SECRET SIN

deep in the incubus of a disquieted slumber
as i make love to a microphone of ignominy
an organ of sorrow moans the stygian, midnight hour
lies and deception visit through the back door
their sins stalking me like a street-savy succubus in need of more
seeking to abort the truth i know
and devour my soul

but i am tethered with the umbilical of ubiquity
nourished by a placenta of faith
unwilling to succumb to sorrow
awaiting a new birth in yet another tomorrow
snatched from the jaws of perdition
deposited in eden
long before it fell

oh this sin
this secret sin
how the hell did it get here
who left the door open

how did it get in

Author's Note

Pete
"Alas! This is the crying sin of the age, this want of faith in the prevalence of a man. Nothing can be effected but by one man. He who wants help wants everything. True, this is the condition of our weakness, but it can never be the means of our recovery. We must first succeed alone, that we may enjoy our success together." - Thoreau

Amazing choice of vocabulary here Pete, great alliteration and use of metaphor. So many poetic devices in a short poem. Love the title too. Well penned.
