No Words

No Words

A Poem by Pete
"

A written word is the choicest of relics. It is something at once more intimate with us and more universal than any other work of art. It is the work of art nearest to life itself. - Thoreau

"
How do you tell someone about a death? No words can soften the blow | Family | The Guardian

"inadequate" doesn't even scratch the surface
the words falling short to an ugly death
like looking for a pin in the dark
not in the same ballpark
way off the mark

you had to be there
but then again
better you weren't
the lame language will have to suffice
never mind precise
that is the price
like throwing rocks at a wedding

because they ran out of rice

"Knowledge is to be acquired only by a corresponding experience. How can we know what we are told merely? Each man can interpret another's experience only by his own." - Thoreau
