"Each reaching and aspiration is an instinct with which all nature consists and cooperates, and therefore it is not in vain. But alas! each relaxing and desperation is an instinct too. To be active, well, happy, implies rare courage. To be ready to fight in a duel or a battle implies desperation, or that you hold your life cheap."- Thoreau

hmmmmmmmmm Fear! the number one enemy of awakening ... funny how monstrous we can make it out to be .. terrifying and even to the point of being that "lock on the gate" ... fight or flight .. and its a fight that takes calm assurance, brutal honesty and Faith .. not the jab, uppercut nor overhand swinging at air .. mustard seed of Faith and fear dissipates of it's own emptiness ... says i! ;) very thought provoking write sir .. and as always in your own unique style and cadence of rhyme and rap .. sort of ... strong theme .. glad i did not miss this one!

Hello Pete, another thought provoking piece of poetry we have here. Some people are too afraid to try new things. Some people are afraid of their own shadow. If you keep thinking something over and telling yourself that you can't do it, then you wont. You'll be brain washing yourself :) Many people do overthink, and I have to admit being a bit like that myself. A fear I guess of failure. I do so admire people who just bite the bullet and get on with it. You know nothing ventured, nothing gained is an absolute pearl of wisdom.

Living on instinct is the best answer, I think.
If we plan too much we end up doing just what others have already done. There is no creation
of something new...just rehashing the old.
Really thoughtful piece, Pete.

That is where imaginings, dreams and creativity come into play sir Pete. You have raised some mighty questions to ponder. Sometimes, give that pen some freedom and it will soar.
