How Bizarre

How Bizarre

A Poem by Pete

. . . I was rich, if not in money, in sunny hours and summer days . . . - Thoreau

PsBattle: The Sun wearing sunglasses : photoshopbattles

it was summer
and it was warm
the tide was cuddling with the shore
caressing with soft sand, affinity and more
the sun shone ardently in a sort of spherical rapture
fire subdued
happiness imbued

palm trees lined the drive like bouncers at a dance club
sunglasses and tanning butter the order of the day
seagulls stood watch like palace guards
sandcastles refused to be washed away
tv remotes replaced by ocean motes
eternity was finally here
as sure as truth denotes
be sure to take careful notes

a new reign
a new season
a gentle breeze gossiped the news and informed
a time to transform
a time to be reborn
a new art form

it was summer
and it was warm
a time to hold near and go far
topless people were riding in a topless, five-wheeled car

how bizarre

Author's Note

Pete
"There were times when I could not afford to sacrifice the bloom of the present moment to any work, whether of head or hands. Sometimes, in a summer morning, having taken my accustomed bath, I sat in my sunny doorway from sunrise till noon, rapt in reverie, amidst the pines and hickories and sumachs, in undisturbed solitude and stillness, while the birds sang around. I grew in those seasons like corn in the night, and they were far better than any work of the hands would have been. They were not time subtracted from my life, but so much over and above my usual allowance." - Thoreau
