Comb-over

Comb-over

A Poem by Pete
"

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see. - Thoreau

"
Overgrown vegetation in LA a growing problem that 'is not OK'

they say that you can't go home again
but i did
a million times
probably will a million more

everything seems smaller
'cept my bald spot
plus i'm a lot taller
nothing changes but the scenery
covered with memories of old growth, thirsty new shoots and other fledgling greenery

the hedges that i used to jump over are still there
along with a lot less hair
the music in my head is the same
along with the insecurities, unacceptance and shame

too bad they don't make bigger brooms to sweep things under the carpet
or sell ointment for the spirit at the supermarket
too bad they don't make rogaine for your soul
for those lonely nights
when your days are receding
and closure is needing
when you're left feeling the unforgiveness and cold

when you're wandering back, rockin'-out and old

it's the first time I read something from You and I hear it so personal, your sad tune, your tears, your hurting heart... no matter what, appearance is something, the inner is something else, and no matter what, your inner beauty will shine on your face in a way or another, too bad if some people can't see it, and too bad when You don't feel like changing keeping your essence genuine as it is while people keep on changing (in the negative way I mean), dear Pete, maybe they will keep telling You that You won't reach home, or that You are wrong, or that You are not beautiful, or that You are not talent... etc... they may keep going on like that, hurting You with words and leaving You with bitter memories, but first know, only the special one who is under that kind of spotlight, and second, who will fix their stubborn minds and unkind hearts? their poor souls? You know that human beings like You do this? when You spread kindness and love, that's your true answers for them, of course it's completely your right to be weak sometimes, feel hurt, cry and release, after all we are human beings and surely you are a sensitive one.

I hope I didn't go far, but it's your words that touched me in that way. Bless You my fine friend and never forget the great poet You truly are~
