Reasons

Reasons

A Poem by Pete

Shall I not have intelligence with the earth? Am I not partly leaves and vegetable mold myself. - Thoreau

Not So Gentle Breeze in the City of Trees - Boise, Idaho [OC][1080x1080] : EarthPorn

no one says, "when i grow up, i want to be an alcoholic"
or an addict
sick or stricken with depression
but there's a lesson

there's a reason for the trees
a reason for the breeze
there's a reason for the rain
a reason for pain
there's a reason for a storm
a reason why we're born
there's a reason to live
a reason to forgive
there's a reason for a dove
a reason for love
a reason why push comes to shove
that reason comes from above

there's a reason for anger
a reason  why we meet a mysterious stranger
there's a reason to confess
a reason for openness
a reason to profess
there's a reason why we grow old
a reason for a soul
everything has a season
everything has a reason
there's a reason for everything under the sun

because eternity is never over and love is never done

The is a reason for everything. We may not know it at the time but I believe there is a reason.

Every choice we make leads is in one direction or another. We need to learn to love more and be less materialistic.

I love the sentiment woven throughout his poems. It is a thought provoking work you have penned here

I thoroughly enjoy all of your Thoreau quotes along with your pieces. A 2 for 1!
This is a wonderful piece, dancing is quick rhythm across my screen. So many lessons here, and many many reasons. Love this Pete!

thanks. yes, thoreau was a wise man. now if i could only follow my own lessons ... :)
Addictions are an illness. We have to remember that when our loved ones and friends are afflicted. What the reason is from their perspective I am unsure, but I do know it causes immense pain and misery. From the the other side of the fence, it teaches compassion, understanding, patience, gratitude that we aren't the one in that position and so much more. It teaches us to love despite all the negatives. Thought provoking write Pete. I feel sure there is a reason for everything, but I'm certainly not in a position to understand it all.

Truth permeates your words based on this great wisdom. You are a poet and a sage. I like the rhyming all over too.

All wonderful. You are welcome Pete.
Bravo, Pete, well said and written. And all these reasons are why we write, to capture them all in words. Great job on this poem. Also, as a side note I love Sting and his music. He is one of the greatest song writers ever.
