Chasing The Blues

Chasing The Blues

closing windows
opening doors
in a whimsical whirlwind
bluebirds of paradise came and drank the rain
there were two
with a loving shake and a peaceful stir
presuming them to be him and her
as they always will be and always were
a reminder that this life is but a winged, crusty-eyed blur

they departed as quickly as they came
without as much as a sound
i've no doubt 'twas for higher ground
places and things more profound
carrying olive branches to the hopeless and downtrodden
a sign that we are not alone
a sign that there is always a way home
a reminder that rain must fall
a reminder that it is good
a reminder that breezes must blow
with a free ticket to azure's impressive show

all this i see
all this i know
as well i should
in a whirlwind
guided by my muse

chasing the blues

I read this yesterday Pete, though my response disappeared in the ether. Hence another visit today. Your poem about our little blue avian friends is delightful. Far from creating a blue mood, they keep me in the pink. Nature and staying close to it provides me with balance. Chase away those blues, stay close to nature.

Nature is beautiful and amazing. Many times it is mysterious.

The imagery of these birds is beautiful and calming. There is something about sitting quietly watching animals in nature do what they do that has a calming effect.
