Is It Enough Rain For Drought-Stricken California? | KPBS

winter turns a cold shoulder to summer
summer simmers and stews
day raises the shades on night
night darkens day with disdain

rain waves a fickle finger at drought
drought blames it all on rain
neither caring about each other's pain
never willing to give each other the time of day
nothing to say
despite always being

in each other's way

Saddening that unity seems a far away dream more and more the older I get - no balance is sought by the masses - no compassion or want to simply exist and find the good in everyday wonders...would that humanity just be kind and accepting - life is hard enough without judgements or disharmony...another brilliant piece Pete :)

This was an incredibly thoughtful and enlightening poem that was filled with truth. Its symbolism speaks of our current society today and the social ills that plague it quite literally. Thank you for sharing your work.
