No Other Way

No Other Way

A Poem by Pete

faceless
faint, stoned, burned-out rock stars
garbed in granite go-go boots
dancing nothing and going nowhere for the sake of suspended movement
stoical philosophers standing at the shore of stark oblivion
photo negative and proof positive

all i could hear was the wail of stillborn cries
latex hands with cracked fingernails plucking dire strings
all i could see was alabaster facades
carved into a stolen eternity

playing our parts
king and queen of broken hearts
black and white
translucent day and opaque night
it's all the same
lost in the turrets of primed existence
crippled song and impossible distance
in the spit of faith's spray

there's no other way

“It is surprising how many great men and women a small house will contain. I have had twenty-five or thirty souls, with their bodies, at once under my roof, and yet we often parted without being aware that we had come very near to one another.” - Thoreau

I feel a deep message in those powerful and chastising lines. People search for happiness in wrong places, weird dogmas and worthless adventures. They miss a lot and at the end, they can't find the right way. Happiness is a by-product of peace of mind. Joy is the by-product of the peace of God.
We as humans need to experience the different spectrums of life. Excellent sir Pete...
