"

However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are. It looks poorest when you are richest. -Thoreau

so naked
the trees seem so skinny and tall today
so naked
trying to stand up to a gossiping march wind
the rain is being bullied into implosion
against its free will

i'm here
wondering what happened to my roots
limbs of feelings, thoughts and emotions
meditative
askew
akimbo
awry
swirling
sodden
downtrodden
in the midst of survival
in the midst of the fight
trying to stick to what's right
waiting for faith's revival

quickly, someone pretty blow me a kiss
direct hit, not a near miss
across this expansive, expensive abyss
usher me back to my seat of bliss
i'm so lonely
in an echoing chamber gone amiss
so naked

it wasn't supposed to be like this

Author's Note

Pete
“In short, I am convinced, both by faith and experience, that to maintain one’s self on this earth is not a hardship but a pastime, if we will live simply and wisely; as the pursuits of the simpler nations are still the sports of the more artificial.” -Thoreau
