Daybreak

A Poem by Pete
"

Every morning was a cheerful invitation to make my life of equal simplicity, and I may say innocence, with Nature herself. - Thoreau

a heavy night dragging
i fall sleep on a pillow of dubiety
awakening to a dawn of profound revelation

my pillow as wet as the dew
tired remnants of faith opening crusted eyes
in betwixt demons kicked their restless feet and wrung their lying hands in a sinful dance of obscurity
morning always comes, ushering god's promise in irreversible maturity

shining an immutable light on truth's sanctity and purity

Author's Note

Pete
"The morning, which is the most memorable season of the day, is the awakening hour. Then there is least somnolence in us; and for an hour, at least, some part of us awakes that slumbers all the rest of the day and night." - Thoreau

There might have been the least somnolence in the wee morning hours for Thoreau but he's never lived in this house. There is, in fact, much somnolence here in the mornings, only removed by the forceful ingestion of multiple hot black cups of caffeine. I'm all for getting things done by the light of day though, new promise, new adventures, new possibilities. I enjoyed the read.

You describe the morning so very well, and some visions linger for a time. Well done my friend, well done.

When you are troubled the nights are long and the tears are many. I am of the opinion that a good cry can help a situation. Better out than in says I. Each new day, a new beginning. Happy Friday Pete.
