Making It

A Poem by Pete

Only that day dawns to which we are awake. There is more day to dawn. The sun is but a morning star. - Thoreau

uncinching an overstretched, sesquipedalian belt of reticence
the night dropped its blackened robe of darkness
revealing virgin skin of a voluptuous morning

the sun began to run its sweet, caressing fingers over a nude, wanting dawn
kissing every inch of an alluring, new day
the only thing it knew how to do

the only sure way
