I Swear

I Swear

A Poem by Pete

Remember that the smallest seed of faith is of more worth than the largest fruit of happiness. - Thoreau

Should Christians Swear on the Bible? | Desiring God

i swear
the birds sang more boldly this morning
eternity was nigher despite a limiting, overcast sky
i tread on hot coals through a dark city but am not consumed
eating and drinking from trash cans adjacent to used needles and scratch tickets

god answers prayer
never getting old
he delivers according to what is right and true
sometimes that can be unsightly
other times it's a magnificent spectacle to behold

faith is not for the faint of heart
it has the unequivocal power to tear evil apart
keeping it from sticking to you
no matter who you are
no matter what you go through
all it takes are the proper, convergent eyes to see
turning the baffling tumblers of heaven's lock with steady hands holding a liberating key

it's just when you're about to give up when true faith convenes
when you've nothing left but it
you have to care
breathe the higher air
let the music blare
you didn't have to be there
it's not a matter of when but where

i swear

Very inspiring read. I particularly like the last two lines in the third stanza. It's a camel through the eye of the needle type sentiment, that righteousness is not an easy path. This has a really good message to it and is well written. I know we don't get what we always pray for, but he gives us what is needed. Good work!
