earth is burning
prayers scorched
faith singed
a feast of evil binged
souls on fire
situation dire
everyone and everything thirsty, parched with emptiness and pain
pouring out gasoline to erase a stain
tell me
where is humility lain

cry me a river
weep me a stream
lengthen my scars and deepen my dream
love me today
hate me tomorrow
use your forked tongue and what's left of your heart to beg or borrow
erase the sorrow
walk straight with a crooked cane
forsake yesterday's disdain
tell me
where do lies live and deceptions feign

sun is black
moon is red
the sea of eternity is unwalkable and dead
angels bowling
fishermen trolling
thunder flashing
highways crashing
clouds gather
choices would but rather
drops and drums pop
don't look back else the choreography will stop
let it commence
twirl it to begin
waltzing to what is right and forsaking sin
nothing to lose
nothing to gain
tell me
tell me

where went the rain

Author's Note

Pete
"As yesterday and the historical ages are past, as the work of today is present, so some flitting perspectives and demi-experiences of the life that is in nature are in time veritably future, or rather outside of time, perennial, young, divine, in the wind and rain which never die." - Thoreau

this is heavy with gentle raindrops
of poetic verse; intense emotions
within the cascading fall of lines
the rhyme is awesome without
being forced..

sun is black
moon is red
the sea of eternity is unwalkable and dead
